Buncrana gets up off it’s knees

Tony Grant theweepaper@gmail.com Edition 5 November 2021

We are trying our best to reflect the more positive aspects of Buncrana and to mirror the aspirations of the town in an effort to progress a wealthier and sustainable town.

When any of the ideas that we cover are taken up by the local papers or the local councillors, we are delighted.

It makes our job worthwhile.

We feel vindicated when the following issues appear in the local papers and when any of the 3 Buncrana councillors raise them with the Donegal County Council. (D.C.C.) for possible solutions.

  • Swan Park restoration project. (lost it’s natural beauty)
  • New School Campus for Buncrana. (still waiting patiently)
  • The Demise of the Swimming Pool.
  • Damage to the Special Area of Conservation. (SAC)
  • OPEN existing toilets from the Shore Front to Ned’s Point.
  • Rouge favourable Parking arrangements on Main Street.
  • The Former Garda Station being opened for public use.
  • Community Garden out the Back of the Garda Station.
  • Digital Hub delayed in Buncrana but not in other towns.
  • Better Footpaths and Cycle paths for a growing population.
  • Upgrade of water pumping station being further delayed.
  • Protection of the environment in general.
  • Environmental damage to Crana and Mill rivers.
  • Let’s promote the Cinema as a community resource.

“The Wee FREE Paper” will continue to work on the above issues with your support.

We invite you to join us, by contributing financially or with articles. (see Contact Us page)

Don’t forget to put pressure on the councillors who’s job it is to represent you and to help the town to stand up for itself.
