The Pool that Vanished

There is something intrinsically wrong about the sheer negligence and downright disregard that has been bestowed on the fate of The Buncrana Leisure Centre.

Here was an amazing community facility, that serviced the entire peninsula of Inishowen and greater area, that simply vanished into a web of murky shenanigans.

The public, that is you and me, were informed that this great facility was being shut down for necessary repair. Years later and counting, absolutely nothing has been done to restore this community service.

Recent enquiries have come up with a plethora of vague and non-convincing reports from a local politician with regards to “funding being made available.”

Once again we are being treated like dumbed down imbeciles and pawned off with the hope that we will go away.

Why is the health of our children, community well-being, sport activity’s that enrich our local society. being belligerently disregarded.

Public meetings and public demonstrations are needed to demand the reinstating of the leisure centre.

Donegal County Council are obviously incapable of foresight or indeed leadership to bring this or many other needed services.

We can not rely on their ineptness and consequently leave ourselves wanting.

It’s pressure time again people.

Time to let our actions embarrass the local councillors and TD’s into responding to what we need and want.
