For years we have been reading about corrupt planning practices in local authorities and wasn’t there a tribunal of enquiry into corrupt planning a number of years ago. ?
If you engage with DCC with regards to planning, you will experience first hand just how corrupt the system still is, the system is designed to fail in the following ways:
- Place your compulsory advert in the public press in the Irish language in a paper at the other end of the county, over a public holiday, so that locals can not see it and object to your planning application.
- When a member of the public complains to DCC, it is impossible in some cases to get a reference number from them to follow up your complaint. (if you manage to get interviewed on Highland Radio about your complaint, you will get a Reference Number )
- Staff in DCC have to use this design flaw, that was made to fail and they will tell you that they have problems using it.
- Staff in their frustration will offer to put you in contact with the land owner who you have complained against so that you can fight it out with them.
- Staff tell you that your complaint has to go to another department to be approved by a senior planner BEFORE your complaint will even be accepted as an official complaint.
- We contacted DCC by phone and by email, at least 50 times in the past three months to be finally allocated a Ref. No. (we were testing the system) most would have given up.
The above are just some of the methods used by D.C.C. on how NOT to deal with complaints to protect the environment.
