Campaign to Convert Old Garda Station to Community Centre Well Under Way

Tony Grant theweepaper@gmail.com Edition 3 May 2021

People, organisations and businesses in Buncrana are being asked to make a commitment in writing of their intentions with regards to the development of the Old Garda Station as a viable and busy centre of activity.

A place where people can meet and develop ideas and skills to reach their potential and to be helped along the way towards this end.

The following is required to convince local Councillors and TD’s to lobby D.C.C. to lease the property from O.P.W. for the people of Buncrana and to get the funding required to achieve this.

We envisage the following activity in the Centre:

  • Self-help Groups – Addictions – Anxiety – Young Parents.
  • Yoga – Pilates – Mindfulness – Meditation.
  • Retired Groups – Men’s Shed – Age Action – Women’s Group
  • Darts – Chess – Drafts – Board Games.
  • Gardening – Seed Sharing – Flower Arranging.
  • Painting – Arts & Crafts – Photography.
  • Exhibitions – Fashion – Sculptures – Innovations
  • Performances – Music – Poetry – Dance – Readings
  • Genealogy – Trace Your Family Tree – Connect with US
  • Meeting Place – Conversation Cafe – Heritage – History
  • A Workshop – Dirty Area – Floats for St. Patrick’s Festival.
