Tree Planting Volunteers needed in the near future to implement a plan by Wild Inishowen to plant more trees in the town.
Over 250 Alder trees were planted by the group and Buncrana Tidy Towns Group, in December at Cockhill Bridge and along the Crana river.
It was great fun being out for 2 hours on a Saturday morning from 10am to 12pm (regulations permitting)

They say that DCC are financially supporting The Special Biodiversity Initiative this year, they are hopefull that some of the money will trickle down to local environmental groups like themselves, where it will have most effect.
This initiative is in support of the All Ireland Pollinator Plan which is being implemented here in Buncrana by DCC and volunteers from The Tidy Towns Group. The town got an award last year for their work in that area.
Part of the idea is to create corridors of wild flowers and growth of any kind along the roads and rivers and hedges and especially in domestic gardens to allow pollination to take place.
Gardening for wildlife is a very effective way of helping birds, butterflies and insects and will contribute a great deal towards pollination.
So OUT with the Anglo-Saxon look where your front lawn is cut to within an inch of its life, and IN with the wild and wonderful natural look of nature.
Never mind what they are doing in America or China, we can make our own contribution to saving the planet right here in our own garden.
